The City of Ottawa’s Smoking and Vaping By-law No. 2019-241 prohibits smoking and vaping cannabis in the designated places listed in section 3. These include outdoor municipal property, outdoor restaurant and bar patios, enclosed public places, enclosed workplaces, ByWard and Parkdale Market stands, and the two stadiums named in the by-law.
Read the by-law’s scope carefully
This is a summary of the City’s smoking-and-vaping by-law, not a complete statement of every rule about cannabis consumption. It does not say that other forms of consumption are allowed in those or other places. Provincial laws, property rules and other restrictions may also apply. Check the exact place and current official wording before relying on a legal conclusion.
